Hello Writer! So glad to have you back. Let’s get right to it, shall we?
So this week we’ve been reading and talking about the first 9 chapters in From the Desk of Zoe Washington. We had a few interesting topics introduced in Tuesday’s reading guide, but today we’re going to bring a little more fun into it.
If you are unfamiliar, a writing prompt is just a way to interact with the book through your own writing. It’s an activity to strengthen reading and writing skills, but also to enjoy and bring a little bit of yourself.
The Prompt
Today we are going to make character maps of 3 characters— Zoe, Trevor, and Marcus. We are going to draw them, write a bit and then speculate a bit about them. To speculate, means to form an idea without all the information. What do you think about them? It’s only been 9 chapters, so we don’t know everything about these people, but we can start to form our own ideas.
The map should look like this:
On a piece of paper make for large boxes. One should be a drawing of your character. The other a list of character traits. The third a quote from that character, so something they directly said. And the last should be a speculation, what do you think about this person? Are they nice, guilty, innocent, honest, dangerous, kind? I leave that up to you.
I hope you’ll share your work in the comments or share with a friend!
