If you’ve been reading From the Mixed-Up Files, you’ve probably realized that this is a strange and lovely book. But what makes it so strange?
It seems simple enough. A young girl who is smart and calculating decides to run away and live in The Metropolitan Museum in NYC and take her brother. All of this is clear. In fact, we know this from the very first page. But what is not so clear is the mysterious letter addressed to a certain lawyer, Saxonberg that was written by a Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. This brings up a lot of questions like who is writing this book and who is this story about. But even stranger
