James and the Giant Peach 2/4

Summary 12-21, Personification, Bug hunt/habitat Worksheet, Discussion Q's

When we last left James he dropped a bag full of magic that scattered into the ground. What was to become of that magic we now know. A small peach began to grow and grow to such an impressive size, the greedy aunts couldn’t help but think about money.

One night, hungry and lonely James leaves the house to clean up after the visitors and finds a small entry into the peach. He crawls through and finds a door the opens into a living room where before him are human sized insects all speaking, and very casually I might add.

Little did James know, but the insects had a plan to escape. This would be the beginning of an adventure that would change his life. We will talk about journey and plot later on. Our focus for this week is the insects themselves. Their character, their habitats, their qualities and how the author uses PERSONIFICATION to write about them.
