Writing Prompt 2/4

Welcome back writers!

Earlier this week we talked about personification. This is a writing technique where you give non human things human characteristics. While it sounds fancy, it’s way more common than you think. An example could be something like, “the wind ran its fingers through my hair.” Obviously the wind does not have fingers. I feel like we can safely say that. But what is this sentence really describing? It’s talking about someone’s hair blowing in the wind. But when we personify the wind and say running finger through my hair, we are also describing the way the wind is blowing. In this case in a more tender, gentle way. So the reader gets two things from this.
